Aims

To

  • Educate the dental team on the latest updates in dental sedation techniques
  • Provide guidance on case selection for dental sedation
  • Inform the dental team about local resources and services in the North West area to aid efficient decision making and referral
Objectives
  • Recognise the various types of dental sedation techniques, including their indication, contra-indications, benefits and limitations.
  • Identify how to assess patient suitability for dental sedation based on their medical history, anxiety levels and procedural complexity.
  • Review strategies for managing patient anxiety and improving patient experience
  • Gain insight into the importance of effective communication with patients regarding dental sedation options, risks and benefits.
  • Explore GDP and practice requirements for inviting a visiting sedationist to your practice.
  • Discuss how to train to become a sedation trained dentist or nurse and maintain revalidation
