The course fee is £125.00 for Dentists and £90.00 for Dental Therapists. This fee includes the practical sessions and consumables, a sandwich lunch and refreshments on arrival. 

Places on this course are limited to 15 and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The course closing date is 19th June 2024.

Cancellation policy: A refund, less £20 administration fee, is guaranteed for cancellations received up to four weeks before the start of the course (5th June 2024 at 5pm). At any stage, if the course needs to be cancelled by the University, a full refund of the delegate fee will be given.

Aims

To understand when, where, and how to use preformed metal crowns on primary molars (theory). Practice handling and placing preformed metal crowns in a simulated, small practical group environment with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Teaching and learning will consist of interactive lectures, case-based discussions, and ‘hands-on’ practice.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the event, delegates will be able to:

  • Describe the indications & appropriate case selection for preformed metal crowns
  • Recall how to communicate & consent with patients & parents
  • Discuss development & acceptance of the technique
  • Complete placement of a preformed metal crown on a primary molar
  • Describe how to prevent, recognise & manage complications that may arise
  • Explain the role of the whole dental team in managing dental caries in children
  • Reflect on cases presented to illustrate how preformed metal crowns can enhance your practice
