Aims

To provide an update for registered and qualified dental nurses in the provision of the knowledge, skills, and confidence in fluoride varnish application under the prescription of a general dental practitioner and as defined within the GDC scope of practice.

Objectives
  • State the process and evidence base of fluoride in improving dental health.
  • State the technical aspects and IPC aspects of applying topical fluoride varnish across all age groups.
  • Provide safe and effective oral health advice to children and adults in clinical settings.
  • Describe the legal and professional conditions informing additional duties and roles for dental nurses.
