The aim of this session is to discuss ionising radiations legislation and the updated ‘Guidance Notes for Dental Practitioners’ to ensure all members of the dental team understand their roles and responsibilities in ensuring compliance

• Review the biological effects of ionising radiation
• Revise the key elements of IRR17 and IR(ME)R 2017 as they apply to dental radiography
• Highlight the roles and responsibilities of the members of the dental team
• To draw on the ‘Guidance Notes for Dental Practitioners’ to discuss how compliance with legislation is achieve

By the end of the session delegates will:

• Have an understanding of the requirements to ensure compliance with IRR17 and IR(ME)R17.
• Be aware of their roles and responsibilities to ensure compliance with legislation.
