DescriptionMedical emergencies are one of the GDC's core CPD subjects & all individuals registered with them are obliged to fulfil these requirements.
Additional information

Most practices now do their CPR training "in-house" but there are other medical problems that also need to be revised & rehearsed from time to time.

This course is designed to fill in these gaps. Please note CPR will not be covered in this course.

The session is open to all members of the dental team but particularly those registered with the GDC who need to fulfil their CPD requirements.

Aims

To revise & update all common medical emergencies in general dental practice, as advised by the Resuscitation Council (UK). These are:

  • Asthma
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Cardiac emergencies including angina & myocardial infarction
  • Epileptic seizures
  • Hypoglycaemia
  • Syncope
  • Choking & aspiration
  • Adrenal insufficiency
Objectives

By the end of the course, participants should be more confident in diagnosing and handling these emergencies.
