Aims | • How to approach periodontal disease management using the Healthy Gums DO Matter Toolkit • An overview of the new classification system for periodontal disease and how to practically implement it in general practice |
Objectives | • To understand the importance of screening, diagnosing and treating periodontal disease and the legal and ethical duties of care • Understand the new classification system for periodontal disease • Learn how to use the BSP's implementation of the new classification system in practice for classifying and diagnosing periodontal disease • To look at the challenges of managing periodontal disease working under the NHS contract • To introduce the Healthy Gums DO Matter toolkit for managing periodontal disease working under the NHS contract • To understand the importance of effective communication and behaviour change • To introduce how to assess patient engagement |
