Aims

To increase Primary Care dental teams’ ability to support patients living with dementia.

Objectives
  • Utilise the dementia friendly dentistry toolkit in the dental setting.
  • Identify ways they can support patients living with dementia who attend their practice.
  • Review the approach to dental care and treatment planning for patients living with dementia patient experience.
  • Discuss some key principles for treatment planning and providing dental care for people living with dementia.
Learning outcomes

Delegates will be able to 

  • Recognise the incidence of dementia in the north-west, the risk factors and impact of the condition on patients attending for dental care..
  • Apply the dementia friendly toolkit and other reference materials to create a dementia friendly practice environment.
