Aims

· to demystify the topic of occlusion and provide solid principles

· to understand TMD management

· to provide sound principles aimed in assisting an accurate diagnosis of dysfunction in the articulatory system

· to build on your existing knowledge

Objectives

Objectives:

By the end of the two day course delegates will be able to:

· diagnose a dysfunction of the articulatory system

· carry out a detailed occlusal examination

· design and execute an occlusal prescription

· revise and practice how to use a facebow

· revise and practice how to record RCP

· Understand and have a practice working with a DENAR articulator

· understand the uses of splints and be able to fit and adjust a splint with confidence

· understand the financial implications to your patients and practice of splint therapy

· have gained an understanding of the time commitment involved in splint therapy

· adjust a splint that allows for an understanding of the principles of a removable ideal occlusion

Learning outcomes

Recognise and manage TMD disorders. Advocate assessing the occlusion prior to treatment and modify current practice in relation to best clinical guidelines.
