The Oral Health Lead role will include:

•  Leading and responsibility for Healthy Living Dentistry in practice
•  Developing an action plan & provide evidence
•  Organisational support to enable health champion to deliver
•  Ensuring monitoring takes place
•  Networking with leads in other practices.

You must nominate a Healthy Living Champion when registering for the Leadership Training, this champion cannot be the same person as the lead and must also attend this session.

The Healthy Living Champion must:

1. Attend the two study sessions - Tuesday 17th March 2020 and Tuesday 28th April 2020.

2. Complete the e-learning "Understanding Health Improvement" and undertake the final assessment.

Places limited to 1 lead and 1 champion per practice (Any spare places will be allocated 1 week before the event)

* LEADS please note this course is partially subsidised by Health Education England, if you fail to attend this session without giving 2 weeks notice you will be charged a cancellation fee of £25.

* CHAMPIONS if you fail to attend the 1st Champion session you will be charged a cancellation fee of £25, if you fail to take the exam after enrollment you will be charged an additional £50

Catering

A selection of vegetarian/non vegetarian options will be made available, however please be aware that we are unable to cater for special dietary requirements such as Gluten Free, Nut Allergy, Vegan. We therefore suggest that delegates bring their own food if you have a specialist requirement.

Oral Health Lead

Healthy living dentistry aims to encourage dental leaders to create an ethos of proactive health and wellbeing within the dental practice by creating an environment that supports and mentors team members.

Healthy Living Champion

To provide the dental champion with the necessary skills, knowledge and competence to engage the dental team in delivering the Healthy Living Dentistry Agenda.

Oral Health Lead

• Evaluate local health data and use it to inform your dental care.
• Understand the Healthy Living Dentistry framework and your role in this.
• Assess your leadership strengths and how you will use leadership to deliver the programme.
• Engage your team to deliver proactive healthy lifestyle advice and implement HLD in your practice.
• Apply the principles of effective change management to support your team through the process of change.
• Develop an action plan for Healthy Living Dentistry for your practice making best use of you own use of time and delegation

Healthy Living Champion

• Recognise their role and responsibilities as a Healthy Living Dental Champion.
• Understand Healthy Living Dentistry.
• Define the role of the lead, what a champion is and what it is not.

Oral Health Lead

Delegates will have the leadership skills and knowledge to engage the dental team in making every contact count in preventing and promoting oral health and general health.

Healthy Living Champion

• Delegates will be proficient in delivering and promoting the healthy living messages to patients and the team within the dental practice. 
• Champion will co-ordinate the Healthy Living activities within the practice
