DescriptionThis hands on course is aimed at qualified General Dental Practitioners (GDP’S), Dental hygienists and Dental therapists.

Registration is from 8.30 to 9am

This course is subsidised by Health Education England. The subsidised fee is £100.00 for Dentists. A reduced fee of £85.00 is available for dental hygienists / therapists. This fee includes the practical sessions and consumables, a sandwich lunch and refreshments.

Aims

To provide a guide to managing patients with periodontitis within the context of the new classification of periodontal diseases.

Objectives

By the end of the event delegates will be able to:

Outline the definition of periodontitis and how this can be communicated with patients

Discuss the current classification of periodontal diseases within the context of formulating a diagnosis

Discuss how practitioners may choose to manage their periodontal cases

Discuss when it may be appropriate to consider a specialist referral and surgical management options for periodontal diseases

Discuss what long-term maintenance regimes may be appropriate for your patients

Discuss and demonstrate the correct techniques in the use of periodontal instrumentation

Discuss and demonstrate methods of sharpening periodontal hand instruments

Learning outcomes

Delegates will be skilled in managing periodontitis using the new periodontal classification.
