Aims | To prepare Foundation Dentists to deal with their finances once they become self-employed. |
Objectives | - Undertsand the key features of associate contracts and the necessity of having one.
- Understand the variety of ways in which associates are paid.
- Understand the way in which associates contribute to the NHS Pension Scheme and the importance of the NHS Portal.
- Understand which key featuures of self employed accounts and the expenses on which tax relief can be claimed.
- Understand the necessity of registering with HMRC as self employed and the way in which tax, Class 4NIC and student load repayments are made when self employed.
- Give tips on how to save for their tax liabilities.
Learning Outcomes - To be better prepared for being slf employed and have the confidence to negotiate associate contracts and be aware that there are procedures that need to be followed with HMRC.
