Give overview of medical problems in dentistry, insight in when to refer and what questions to ask.

Objectives

To discuss a range of medical problems and the impact they have on the delivery of dental care.

Consider the barriers to care for patients with cognitive impairments eg: dementia.

Consider issues regarding capacity and consent.

Learning outcomes

Improved medical history taking.

Greater confidence in managing patients with medical complexity.

Improved knowledge of how and when to get additional advice.

Greater understanding of special care dentistry services.
