*Delegates who successfully complete the course will be provided with BLS certification for a year*

 This course is subsidised by Health Education England. The subsidised fee is £65.00. This fee includes the practical simulation sessions and consumables, a sandwich lunch and refreshments. 

Places on this course are limited to 24 and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The course closing date is 12th May 2023.

Cancellation policy: A refund, less £15 administration fee, is guaranteed for cancellations received up to three weeks before the start of the course (12th May at 5pm). No refund will be made for cancellations received after this date or for failure to attend. Substitutions fulfilling the criteria may be made at any time prior to the course start. A full refund of the course fee will be given if the University needs to cancel the course at any stage.

Aims

This is an interactive course provided to all members of the dental team to allow them to manage common emergencies that may present in practice as part of a team. Delegates will be given information on the management of medical emergencies and how these may present in practice and then utilise this knowledge in small groups to manage emergency events.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the event, delegates will be able to:

  • Recall the common medical emergencies that present in practice and how these are managed by the dental team.
  • List the equipment and drugs required to manage common medical emergencies
  • Perform basic life support (with airway adjuncts) on a simulated patient
  • Manage a medical emergency as part of team in a simulated environment
