Aims | To enable educators to understand self-appraisal, leading to a robust PDP and eCPD plan, and how to apply this knowledge to appraising others (FDs) | ||||||
Objectives | · To present an overview of the appraisal process · To review the importance of reflective practice and life-long learning · Provide the opportunity for participants to work in pairs to undertake an appraisal resulting in a Personal Development Plan that follows GDC Enhanced CPD Guidelines and includes educational aims To share strategies for helping inexperienced FDs to practice safely, and develop their skills across all areas of dentistry | ||||||
Learning outcomes | By the end of the day you should be able to: Explain the appraisal process Facilitate and work through the appraisal process, as an appraiser and appraisee Produce a Personal Development Plan in line with GDC guidance (PDP) Apply assessment skills to support Foundation Dentists · Participants will be aware of the Appraisal Process · Participants will be aware of what Reflective Practice is, and how to develop it · Participants will have a Personal Development Plan based on GDC recommendations · Participants will have had the opportunity to be appraised by, and to appraise, a colleague Participants will have additional strategies to help them appraise FDs | ||||||
