Aims
  • To give an overview of the management of the high caries risk paediatric patient
  • To give an overview of splinting in the paediatric dental patient
Objectives
  • Discuss the management of the high caries risk patient, including the use of silver diamine fluoride and the placement of preformed metal crowns using the Hall technique.
  • Discuss splinting alternatives for the management of traumatic dental injuries in the permanent dentition.
  • Deliver hands-on teaching for the placement of preformed metal crowns using the hall technique, wire and composite and titanium trauma splints on dental models.
Learning outcomes

Following this course, delegates will have an appreciation of the management strategies available for the high caries risk patient, including the technique for placement of silver diamine fluoride and preformed metal crowns using the Hall technique. They will have knowledge of the various splinting techniques for the child patient including the ability to place both wire and composite and the titanium trauma splint.
