Aims

Raise awareness of the interface between Anaesthesia sedation and Dentistry and foster collaborative care for children & young people

Objectives
  • Discuss current GA and sedation approaches for high dental needs children.
  • Describe selection criteria for WiWo, Daycare & inpatient anaesthesia.
  • Describe the Anaesthetic challenges complex children can present.
  • Emphasise the importance of pre-op-assessment & planning
Learning outcomes

Delegates will become more aware of the different types of anaesthesia and sedation approaches for CYP, whilst appreciating the perspective of the Anaesthetist; processes and challenges faced in managing dental procedures for children, under GA. Understand the part dentists play in facilitating children’s referrals are directed to the most appropriate provider.
