Aims | This course aims to provide the participant with: - An update of the knowledge required to identify key concepts in restorative dentistry which underlie successful management & treatment of patients
- A revision of the operative skills necessary to undertake restorative dentistry in general practice
- An environment in which to increase the confidence of participants in undertaking restorative dentistry
- The enhanced skills necessary to make & justify treatment planning decisions in a scientifically based and logical manner
- A familiarisation with the supportive literature

Objectives | Upon successful completion of the course, participants should be able to: - Recognise & describe the various disease processes within restorative dentistry
- Discuss the importance of prevention of dental diseases
- Review & explain current restorative dentistry techniques which will contribute to their clinical decision making in practice
- Approach & demonstrate clinical problem solving, in a clear and logical manner within general dentistry
- Undertake tooth preparations for both direct & indirect restorations
- Describe the advantages & disadvantages of the various materials and techniques available
- Undertake basic root canal treatment
- Discuss the important features in partial denture design & apply these principles to individual cases
- Describe the classification of periodontal diseases, screening tools & treatment modalities
- Carry out restorative techniques commonly undertaken in general dental practice in a safe & predictable manner
- Recognise the limitations of their skills & know when it is appropriate to refer
