Aims

To update practitioners in current concepts of periodontal diagnosis and treatment planning and to provide simulated surgical teaching on pig’s heads.

Objectives

This combination of hands–on and lecture will update practitioners in:

  • Current concepts of periodontal diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Risk factors and periodontal treatment pathways: full-mouth vs staged approach
  • Non-surgical therapy, use of antimicrobials, reassessment and supportive therapy
  • Basic periodontal surgical techniques through simulated teaching with practical, hands-on element on pigs jaws
Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, practitioners should be able to: 

  • Gain an understanding of current concepts in periodontal assessment, treatment planning, non-surgical therapy and its limitations
  • Feel more confident applying basic periodontal surgery skills in practice
