DescriptionThe course is aimed at qualified General Dental Practitioners (GDPs). It meets the new GDC requirements for enhanced CPD.
Additional information

Delegates can attend with an assisting dental nurse to enhance their skills; however they would not qualify for enhanced verifiable CPD.

This course is subsidised by Health Education England. The subsidised fee is £85.00 for Dentists. This fee includes the practical sessions and consumables, a sandwich lunch and refreshments. Dental nurses can attend free of charge when a delegate fee is paid.

Places on this course are limited to 12 and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The course closing date is 1st March 2019.

Aims
  • To help practitioners improve their tooth preparation skills to produce more successful adhesive and conventional bridge preparations.
Learning outcomes

By the end of the event, delegates will be able to:

  • Explain the indications, design features and limitations of adhesive bridge work.
  • Describe the uses, advantages and disadvantages of conventional bridgework.
  • Discuss the maintenance requirements and longevity of adhesive bridge work and conventional bridgework.
  • Describe the principles of extra-coronal tooth preparation including the importance of retention and resistance form.
  • Describe the preparation and design features of a conventional metal ceramic crown and zirconia bridge retainer.
  • Prepare teeth for a 3 unit conventional metal ceramic bridge and a 3 unit conventional all ceramic bridge.
