Aims

Summarise aetiology, diagnosis, and treatment planning concepts for tooth surface loss with reference to the academic literature.

Objectives

By the end of the session, candidates will be able to:

· Describe the aetiology of tooth surface loss (TSL)

· Diagnose erosion, attrition, abrasion and abfraction

· Describe preventative regimes for patients with TSL and how to monitor its progression

· Prescribe appropriate records for treatment planning

· Differentiate the Dahl Principle from Full mouth rehabilitation

· Know how and when to use a diagnostic wax up

. Develop a step-by-step treatment plan based on wax up

Learning outcomes

Participants will demonstrate knowledge related to diagnosis, aetiology and prevention of toothwear and will be able to take records to plan for treatment.
