  • To impart confidence in the principles of cross sectional imaging, selection criteria for referral and interpretation of the reports.
Objectives
  • To provide a basic explanation of the physics and techniques of CT, MRI and Ultrasound.
  • To demonstrate the differences in imaging appearances of dentoalveolar structures between the modalities.
  • To discuss the use of cross sectional modalities as an adjunct / alternative to conventional planar radiographs in oro-facial disease.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Have a basic grasp of the physics, advantages and disadvantages of CT, CBCT, MRI and Ultrasound.
  • Be able to recognize these techniques from images.
  • Appreciate when to request these investigations in dento-alveolar diagnosis.
