Aims

‘These materials work well in my hands’

  • To revisit the fundamentals of using dental materials to make of dental devices.

Infection prevention in relation to the manufacture of dental devices

  • The aim of the presentation is to provide delegates with an understanding of the potential routes of contamination that exist during the manufacture of dental devices and strategies to prevent infection.
Objectives

  • To appreciate the need for consistency and how the correct use of materials can make a dental laboratory more profitable

Infection prevention in relation to the manufacture of dental devices

  • A quiz to establish current working practices of participants in relation to infection control. A one hour lecture covering the routes of disease transmission and methods of decontamination and laboratory cleanliness. Followed by a Q&A session.
Learning outcomes

  • Discuss the properties of common dental materials used in the laboratory.
  • Discuss common errors in manipulating and processing materials.
  • Identify key areas that could be improved in the use of dental materials in the laboratory.
