This course is for current Educational Supervisors working within Foundation Dentistry and Foundation Therapy.

Aims

To enable educators to understand self-appraisal, leading to a robust personal development and eCPD plan, and to apply this knowledge to appraising others

Objectives
  • To present an overview of the appraisal process
  • To review the importance of reflective practice and life-long learning
  • Provide the opportunity for participants to work in pairs to undertake an appraisal resulting in a Personal Development Plan the follows GDC Enhanced CPD Guidelines and includes educational aims
  • To share strategies for helping inexperienced FDs and FDTs to practice safely, and develop their skills across all areas of dentistry
Learning outcomes

Participants will:

  • be aware of the Appraisal Process
  • know what Reflective Practice is, and strategies to develop it
  • have a Personal Development Plan based on GDC recommendations
  • have had the opportunity to be appraised by, and to appraise, a colleague
  • have developed strategies to help them appraise FDs and FDTs
