DescriptionOrthodontic audit and peer review study day. Topics will include issues of consent and communication with Orthodontic Patients, as well as clinical management of difficult cases.

This annual Quality in Orthodontics meeting is for Orthodontic consultants and specialists, GDPs providing orthodontic services, Orthodontic therapists, and Dental Nurses working in practices and hospital units providing orthodontic care.

*Practitioners are asked to bring records of 2 difficult orthodontic cases they would like to discuss with colleagues, and be prepared to share with colleagues a recent orthodontic audit carried out in their practice or unit.*

Attendance at the meeting will satisfy the requirement for all LSCOCN clinical members to attend at least one LOCN meeting a year.

Aims

This session aims for delegates to:

  • share best practice and experience relating to the provision of Orthodontic Treatment.
  • discuss issues relating to quality in Orthodontic practice and how this can be effectively measured.
  • review peer practice of difficult clinical orthodontic cases and other relevant orthodontic issues.
Objectives
  • Ensure compliance with GDC and LT recommendations for Peer Review and Audit.
  • Encourage peer group discussion to improve the quality of orthodontic services provided.

Following this session, delegates will have:

  • knowledge of up to date clinical practice and practice management in orthodontics
  • Awareness of clinical management issues for difficult and complex orthodontic cases.
