As such, dentists should definitely bring along their dental nurses & any other staff involved in decontamination. The presentation gives participants an appreciation & understanding of safe and effective infection control procedures. It examines the reasons why procedures need to be performed & explores the risks inherent in dentistry.

In addition, the course will provide hand washing training & 3 hours of infection control CPD.

  • To provide a clear understanding of the reasons for implementing effective cross infection control procedures in a dental environment
  • To provide knowledge of the micro-organisms which may potentially be transferred through dental procedures
  • To introduce the legislative aspects which relate to cross infection control procedures in the dental environment
  • To provide a detailed explanation of the practices & procedures for implementing effective cross infection control as recommended by HTM 01-05
Objectives

It is anticipated that members of the dental team who undertake this training course will have a thorough understanding of the reasons why effective infection control is fundamental to the provision of quality dental treatment. It will also provide a good working knowledge of all the recommended procedures necessary for the implementation of effective infection control in a dental context.
