DescriptionThis course will give an update on assessment, non-surgical management and basic surgical techniques in Periodontology.
Additional information

Practice basic periodontal surgery and focus on current concepts in periodontal diagnosis, treatment planning and supportive therapy of common periodontal problems.

Registration from 9am

On arrival and during the day there will be tea, coffee and water available, but no lunch will be provided. There are amenities close by for you to purchase lunch or fridge facilities at the venue for you to store food or drinks.

This course will involve the use of pigs jaws.

Aims

To update practitioners in basic diagnosis and treatment planning, discussing current concepts in risk factors and patient evaluation.

Objectives
  • Review basic surgical techniques
  • Recognise current concepts of periodontal diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Identify risk factors and periodontal treatment pathways: full-mouth vs staged approach
  • Discuss non-surgical therapy options, use of antimicrobials, reassessment and supportive therapy
  • Restate basic periodontal surgical techniques through simulated teaching with practical, hands-on element on pigs jaws
Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, practitioners will have a greater understanding of:

  • Current concepts in periodontal assessment and treatment planning;
  • Non-surgical therapy and its limitations;
  • Basic periodontal surgery, indications, flap design and suturing techniques
