SubjectRadiology
DescriptionA session is to provide Foundation Year Dental Therapists with an update on Dental Radiography
Additional information

This session will commence with a review of x-ray production, the key principles of radiation protection and the biological effects of radiation. This will lead into a review of the key elements of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) and the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IR(ME)R 2017) as they apply to dental radiography; specific consideration will be given to the IR(ME)R roles that Dental Therapists can be entitled to perform, with adequate training.

The session will also review the range of dental radiographic techniques that dental therapists can perform; clinical indications and the process of referral, radiographic technique (including problems that can be encountered during positioning for dental radiographs) and normal radiographic anatomy will be covered. The importance of having a detailed knowledge of normal dental radiographic anatomy will be discussed with regard to the process of image interpretation.

Links will be made back to IR(ME)R and the roles that dental therapists can be entitled to perform with adequate training.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT FULL JOINING INSTRUCTIONS WITH DETAILED TIMINGS WILL BE SENT TO YOU VIA EMAIL THE MONDAY BEFORE YOUR STUDY SESSION.

Max Course is only being used as a way to get information to you, record your attendance and allow you to evaluate your study sessions.
