DescriptionThe GDC has stated that all dentists & their teams must be able to respond to medical emergencies that may occur in their practice.
Additional information

It is also now mandatory to include medical emergencies training in the five year CPD cycles. A joint document has been issued from the GDC & Resuscitation Council stating the emergencies that dentists should be able to manage as "first responders" & this includes the use of Automated External Defibrillators.

  •   To learn & understand the elements of risk assessment, the treatment of collapse in the dental surgery & to update participants knowledge in life support systems

  • Participants can undertake an adequate risk assessment for individual patients in the event of a collapse in the dental surgery
  • Participants will have gained hands-on experience of CPR & an update of current life support processes
  • Participants will be familiar with preparing & using emergency drugs
