To provide delegates with an overview of prescribing principles for general prescribing and specific drugs on the NHS Dental formulary

Objectives
  • To have a better understanding of how to legally prescribe on NHS dental prescriptions.
  • Have knowledge of the pharmacology of the drugs on the NHS Dental formulary and how to use them.
  • How to safely and effectively prescribe antibiotics for dental conditions.

Learning outcomes 

  • To be more familiar with the contents of the dental formulary
  • List the legal requirements for writing prescriptions
  • Know the pharmacology of the drugs on the formulary and any important interactions
  • Rationalise antibiotic prescribing and information to consider when prescribing them
