This course will provide 6.5 hours of eCPD. The theory section of this course will now be taught online via a 1.5 hour webinar - Tuesday 7th June 6pm - 7.30pm. Failure to attend the webinar will result in you not being able to attend the 5 hour hands on clinical skills section of the course. You will receive an MS Teams invitation no later than Monday 6th June. Please check your spam/Junk emails.

Aims

To enhance knowledge and skills in pulpotomy, Hall crown and deciduous extractions and to improve confidence in working as a Dental Therapist in practice.

Objectives

Delegates will:

  • Practise, receiving guidance and feedback, on pulpotomy, Hall crown and extraction techniques on simulated models
  • Revisit knowledge of deciduous tooth anatomy
  • Identify the indications and contraindications to pulpotomy technique
  • Recognise and demonstrate the stages of pulpotomy technique including use of appropriate medicaments and dressings
  • Discuss and demonstrate the use of deciduous pre-formed crowns for the Hall Technique including placement of separators, sizing and cementation of crown and airway management
  • Select appropriate equipment for deciduous extractions and discuss and demonstrate techniques
Learning outcomes

Delegates will have updated key skills and techniques within the scope of practice of the Dental Therapist.
