Aims

To highlight the issues with management of pain in endodontics with local anaesthetics, analgesics and antibiotics

Objectives

The learner will be aware of the reasons for failure of local anaesthetics in endodontic cases. The management of such a failure will be discussed from both a pharmacological and technique perspective. You will be aware of the role of antibiotics and analgesics in the control of endodontic discomfort and will also be able to predict endodontic pain.

Learning outcomes

•Understanding the difficulties in achieving anaesthesia in endodontically inflamed teeth

•Aware of different strategies to help achieve anaesthesia in endodontically inflamed teeth

•Be aware of the role of different LA techniques and materials

•Understand the role of analgesics and antibiotics in endodontics
