Focusing on advanced restorative cases, this session discusses strategies or restoration both prior to and post endodontic treatment, treatment feasibility, assessment & treatment planning.

Mike Horrocks is a senior partner in Simplyendo which is both a private referral treatment centre and a training centre providing quality endodontic training to general dental practitioners. Mike is also programme director for the MSc in Endodontology at The University of Chester,  aimed primarily at busy general dental practitioners aspiring to improve the quality of their knowledge in the field of endodontology.

Aims

To present various strategies for the restorability of teeth prior to and post-endodontic treatment and the role of endodontically treated teeth as part of advanced restorative cases.

Objectives

You will be aware of the critical importance of the coronal seal in the long-term survivability of the endodontically treated tooth. Factors such as biological width will be discussed as part of treatment feasibility, assessment and treatment planning and you will be able to make evidence based decisions on whether teeth are restorable.

Learning outcomes

Delegates will:

  • Be familiar with the importance of the coronal seal for the long-term prognosis of root canal treated teeth.
  • Be aware of an assessment strategy pre-endodontic treatment to make sound clinical choices on restorability of teeth, and their suitability for advanced restorative dentistry.
  • Be aware of techniques for restoring access cavities post endodontic treatment.
  • Understand the role of posts in the restoration of the endodontically treated tooth.
