Costs of the course: 

NHS dentist £40, NHS Dentist + Nurse £50

Non NHS Dentist £80 , Non NHS Dentist + Nurse £100

NHS Therapist/ Hygienist £20, non NHS Therapist / Hygienist £40

Delegates will receive access to electronic resources and an opportunity to join the Greater Manchester support peer group.

Catering

A selection of vegetarian/non vegetarian options will be made available, however please be aware that we are unable to cater for special dietary requirements such as Gluten Free, Nut Allergy, Vegan. We therefore suggest that delegates bring their own food if you have a specialist requirement.

The ‘Healthy Gums Do Matter’ programme is designed to support dental teams to effectively manage growing numbers of patients with periodontal concerns in daily practice. This course will give you guidance and tools on screening, diagnosis and management of this disease through the user friendly toolkit.

• To understand the importance of screening, diagnosing and treating periodontal disease and the legal and ethical duties of care
• To understand the classification of periodontal disease with a focus on chronic and aggressive periodontitis
• To understand your role as clinicians within periodontal disease
• To look at the challenges of managing periodontal disease working under the NHS contract
• To understand the Healthy Gums DO Matter toolkit for managing periodontal disease working under the NHS contract
•  To understand the importance of effective communication and behaviour change
• To understand how to assess patient engagement
•  To look at record keeping with periodontal disease and how to protect yourself from medico legal problems
• To start to consider and plan how the toolkit can be implemented within your own practice

Delegates will

• be familiar with the Health Gums DO Matter toolkit and approach for screening, diagnosing and managing periodontal disease
• have a greater understanding of how to manage periodontal disease in primary care under the current contract
