To develop communication skills and help prepare students for interviews and presentations and patient interactions.

Objectives

During the session, students will:

  • Reflect on the purpose and structure of interviews and presentations and the effective use of soft skills to enhance performance in both situations
  • Practice listening and influencing skills to work with patients and colleagues
  • Practice presentations and analyse interview performance
Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, students should be able to:

  • Plan and prepare for interviews and presentations using a preparation framework
  • Identify skills and techniques that they can use to improve their performance in interviews, presentations and patient interactions
  • Build rapport with patients, colleagues, interviewers and audiences
  • Identify further sources of skills support and help in preparing for everyday communication, presentations and interviews
