This course is subsidised by Health Education England North West. The subsidised fee for this event is £50 per person, which includes the practical sessions and consumables, a sandwich lunch and refreshments. The course closing date is Thursday 19th April 2018. However, places on this course are limited to 16 and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Aims

The aim of this course is to provide dental hygienist/therapists with up to date practical guidelines regarding the use of ultrasonic instruments (Dentsply, Sirona and Cavitron) for effective periodontal treatment. It is a hands-on full day course.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the event, delegates will be able to:

  • Describe how ultrasonics work and are used for non-surgical periodontal therapy
  • Discuss indications and contraindications for use
  • Select the correct ultrasonic insert for calculus and biofilm removal
  • Demonstrate the correct technique for utilization of the ultrasonic scaler
  • Identify how to reduce operator fatigue by addressing correct posture, positioning and instrument technique.
  • Identify maintenance procedures for enhanced effectiveness and efficiency
