Give an introduction to implant dentistry

Objectives

To give an overview of appropriate referrals , patient selection and implant maintenance protocols.

To discuss what the GDPs responsibilities (even those who haven’t placed the implant) are for implant maintenance and monitoring, including the how to spot a failing implant

To answer FAQs from patients with regard to possible options, and concerns

Overview of the current recommended training standards for GDPs starting with implants

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session you will understand the aspects to consider when referring patients, and understand some aspects of patient selection.

You will be able to implement the implant maintenance protocols within your Practice for implant patients under your care.

You will be able to answer patients' FAQ and some of their concerns

Understand the current training requirements for those who wish to become involved in implant dentistry
