DescriptionPeter Doorey is GDP in a six surgery practice. He has been a Foundation Training dentist since 1994 and is currently a Training Programme Director for DCT in the North West. Pam Doorey is a chartered physiotherapist working as clinical lead in an acquired brain injury unit and has had many years of experience of musculo-skeletal physiotherapy in a primary care setting.

Aims

To highlight the problems caused by working in poor posture; To learn the theory of how to active good posture and then take this knowledge into the working environment; To provide guidance on using surgery equipment to aid good posture; Learn how to position the patient; Learn preventative exercise regimes and how to spot signs of problems caused by working in poor posture; to consider when to seek treatment and who to get treatment from if problems occur

Objectives
  • Provide lecture based presentation and practical demonstrations to educate FDs in working with good posture

Learning Outcomes 

  • FD will have a good understanding of what 'good posture' means for themselves.
  • They will appreciate how important having good surgery design with correct equipment can help them achieve good working posture.
  • They will, by using the theory of good posture, be able to understand the need for preventative exercise regimes and how to extend these regimes to treat problems.
