  • What the expectations are of the oral health champion
  • How to submit the practice returns
  • How the patient questionnaire will work
  • How the practice audit will work
  • What additional resources will be available

Aims
  • To overview the Starting Well: A Smile4Life Initiative and explore local implementation in Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen
Objectives
  • To briefly review the Starting Well: A Smile4Life Initiative.
  • To explore prevention of oral disease as outlined in Delivering Better Oral Health (3rd Edition) and to introduce anticipated and related audit activity.
  • To overview the scheme’s funding and address associated questions from members of dental teams.
  • To describe and explore:

- The reporting and data submission activities to be undertaken by the practices to support the scheme.

- Potential patient engagement activities.

- How locality networks will function with the local authorities.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the session, delegates will be expected to:

  • Have a comparatively deeper understanding of Starting Well: A Smile4Life Initiative, its preventive underpinnings, and its financial enablers.
  • Understand requirements relating to audit activity, data submission, and participation in patient engagement and locality networks.
