  • To have an understanding of the principles and use of the IOTN
  • To be aware of appropriate referral criteria and to whom
  • Give an overview of the orthodontic specialist pathway
  • Describe Local orthodontic provision, What the service provides and who does what and where, Elaborate on the GDPs role in orthodontics, Describe IOTN – the use of MOCDO and the referral process
Objectives
  • To have an understanding of the principles and use of the IOTN
  • To be aware of appropriate referral criteria and to whom
  • Give an overview of the orthodontic specialist pathway
  • Be able to describe local ortho provision
  • Be able to describe what the service provides and where
  • Be able to recognise and appropriate inform and refer orthodontic patients
  • Be able to carry out an IOTN assessment using the MOCDO method
Learning outcomes

By the end of the session FDs should be able to carry out an IOTN assessment of the patient and make the appropriate referral if required. FDs should have an insight as to the appropriate path to follow if they are keen to pursue further orthodontic specialist training
