This course session 4 of our interactive Leadership workshops for Dental Nurses. This session, focusing on clinical skills aims to help potential Lead Nurses manage equipment maintenance, materials and infection control within their practice. The speaker, Glenys Bridges has many years experience in training the whole dental team. Glenys believes in a whole team approach for high quality patient care, which can be seen throughout this Leadership Training.

Please note that this is one of four workshops designed to equip Lead Dental Nurses to ensure performance of the role to a high standard.

Mandatory: Dental Nurse, or Senior Dental Nurse

The learner will define the need for the team to be trained in the care and maintenance of equipment, the treatment room and materials, whilst following clear and well-defined instructions for the infection control processes.

Learners will discover how to used audit processes to ensure that team activities meet the required standards and identify practical ways to ensure that continued improvement is embedded into the team culture.

Following this session the participants will be able to:

• Explain how the lead dental nurse sets and maintains standards for the clinical environment
• Outline requirements for the effective care of equipment and instruments
• Explain the role of the evidence based audit processes
• Define measures for supervising infection control activities
