To understand the key legal terminology (from the "Contracts" (3361) and "Charges" (3477) legislation) and specifically definitions of:

  • Course of treatment
  • Mandatory treatment
  • Splitting
  • Urgent treatment

To understand the process of a complaint through the GDCs Fitness to Practice (FtP) committees and to study and discuss examples of FtP cases with a former GDC "Expert witness"

Learning outcomes
  • FDs will understand their responsibility for accurate claiming.They will learn the important definitions within the Regulations and how these are interpreted. They will appreciate the need for accurate and full contemporaneous clinical records.
  • FDs will have a greater knowledge of record keeping, understanding of the importance of FP17 data, recognise the importance of and improve communication skills and finally, avoidance of complaints to the GDC
