  • To discuss complaints, how and why they occur and what can be done to prevent them escalating.
  • To discuss the anatomy of a claim including costs.
  • To offer an overview of the GDC fitness to practice process.
Objectives

The delegates should understand that adverse patient reactions are not common. The afternoon should offer strategies for recognising difficult interactions, the factors that predispose to a complaint and when they occur how should they be managed. The delegates should understand in simple terms how a claim for compensation can arise and the GDC fitness to practice process.
