To have a better understanding of how dental practices are governed and regulated and how this relates to Clinical Governance.

To have a better knowledge of Clinical Governance and understand that it is a systematic approach to maintaining and improving the quality of patient care.

To understand the principals of Clinical Governance.

To be able to potentially bring changes to practice to improve patient care from today’s session.

Objectives

To discuss umbrella topic of Clinical Governance with specific reference to areas which directly affect FD/Associates.

To discuss the processes involved in Clinical Governance and their role in improving patient care.

To use CQC criteria of inspections to highlight the importance of clinical governance and its role improving patient care.

Learning outcomes

To help to improve the quality of patient care.

To be able to implement some aspects of Clinical Governance into day to day practice.

To have a better understand of the Clinical Governance framework.

To have a better knowledge of dental practice regulation in these areas.
