This course is for current Educational Supervisors working within Foundation Dentistry.

Important - please read before booking

• This course is fully subsidised by Health Education England, but will incur a cost to NHS public funds. HEE have a responsibility to ensure that these funds are utilised carefully and effectively. With this in mind, failure to attend the course will result in the Educational Supervisor being liable for the full cost of their place on the training - £280
• Educational Supervisors completing this training will be expected to carry out at least 2 appraisals within the next 12 month period.

A condition of requesting a place on this event is that you agree to Health Education England's Face to Face events essential requirements. This will include:

• lateral flow test should be taken and negative result recorded on the NHS Website before arrival
• evidence of the negative test provided to the coordinator on arrival at the event
• temperature to be taken on arrival,
• mask wearing during the session
• adherence to social distancing throughout the event.

Mandatory: Educational Supervisor

To develop the knowledge and skills to deliver effective appraisals for dentists.

• Discuss how to plan and prepare for an appraisal
• Develop the skills to conduct an effective appraisal
• Practice providing effective feedback
• Examine how to support the dentist to create a meaningful PDP
• Consider when and why to postpone an appraisal
• Explain how to deal with difficult appraisal situations.

Following the workshop delegates will be able to deliver effective dentist appraisals and complete all relevant paperwork.
