  • To give a comprehensive overview of practical periodontic techniques to equip the GDPs for safe, effective and ethical general dental practice.
Objectives
  • To clarify the most important priciples of diagnosis;
  • To demonstrate the principles of treatment planning in periodontal cases;
  • To show how to achieve predictable, consistent and sustainable treatment outcomes.
  • To show participants how to avoid litigation against them.
Learning outcomes

After this course  students will be able to:

1. confidently diagnose periodonal diseases and plan initial nonsurgical treatment.

2.Teach effective and reliable oral hygiene techniques to their patients and carry out root surface debridement that will lead to disease control and allevatiation of symptoms:

3. Understand when to refer for advanced surgical techniques

4. Know when to use adjunctive antibactyerial therapy:

5. Understand how to maintain optimal long term periodontal health for their patients.

6. Avoid legal claims against them for negligence - and how to deal with problems when they arise.
