Aims

To provide imaging guidance on clinically suspected inflammation of the jaws and adjacent soft tissues.

Objectives
  • Revision of clinical signs & symptoms of inflammation of the oral cavity.
  • Understanding of imaging modalities suitable for hard tissue inflammatory conditions.
  • Prescribing of ultrasound, MRI and nuclear medicine in the investigation of soft tissue inflammation, including deep neck spaces and salivary glands.
  • Radiographic techniques suitable for assessing inflammatory conditions in special needs patients and children.
Learning outcomes

By the end of the session participants should have a sound understanding of the applicability and limitations of radiography and associated imaging techniques for the investigation of inflammatory lesions.
