Additional information | This workshop tackles that problem. The day looks at many of the non verbal and verbal elements which make up good communication. It moves beyond the usual fact based presentation and brings communication skills alive. There is no role play but there is a fascinating insight into what human beings do to get their message across. | ||

Objectives | 1. To explore how strong emotions and state of mind can affect communication and what to do about them 2. To determine the best way to interact with patients to achieve good communication 3. To investigate how rapport and good communication can motivate staff, build confidence and inspire teamwork | ||
Learning outcomes | 1. FDs will be able to manage patient's anxiety, anger, confusion or misunderstanding and communicate in a sensitive manner, which causes the least anxiety possible 2. FDs will be better able to interact with patients and carers in a clear, concise and understandable manner 3. FDs will be able to build rapport and communicate with all members of the clinical team in a manner which inspires confidence, motivation and teamwork | ||
