Aims
  • To discuss the use of ‘Delivering Better Oral Health: an Evidence-Based Toolkit for Prevention’.
  • To improve knowledge in the various materials available to the modern dentist when prescribing crowns and bridges.
Objectives
  • To highlight the content of the toolkit.
  • To discuss how to apply the toolkit for different patients
  • Describe the properties of different crown & bridge materials
  • Outline the advantages and disadvantages of each
  • Discuss indications for each material and considerations for their use.
Learning outcomes
  • To provide preventative interventions as advised by the toolkit.
  • To know what intervention is appropriate for each patient.

By the end of the presentation delegates should:

  • Be able to prescribe the most appropriate crown/bridge material for their patients’ needs
  • Understand the differences between the materials based upon a number of factors.
