SubjectMedical Emergencies
DescriptionMedical emergencies in dental practice including scenarios that are managed by the dental team. This is an interactive session where delegates are given reading in advance so that they are able to fully participate fully. The session consists of various scenarios of medical emergencies which can present in practice and delegates manage these emergencies as part of a team.

Aims

To present an overview on the recognition and management of medical emergencies that may present in dental practice.

Objectives

To describe the common medical emergencies that can present in dental practice and how they are managed in the dental team.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session, delegates should be able to

Recognise the way that common medical emergencies can present in practice

Be able to perform BLS with airway adjuncts on an adult

Be able to manage common medical emergencies that may present and recognize when to refer to emergency services

Be able to manage the transfer of a patient to emergency services
