Aims

To enable Educational Supervisors to identify opportunities to use coaching and mentoring and to develop the skills to do so with confidence.

Objectives

During the session participants will:

• Describe the difference between coaching and mentoring

• Identify opportunities for coaching and mentoring in their current role

• Describe the skills and qualities of an effective coach or mentor

• Set up and create a coaching and mentoring relationship

• Develop and use their skills in a coaching and mentoring session

• Create SMART action plans

• Support others to achieve positive outcomes from their coaching and mentoring sessions

• Identify ways to support each other as coaches and mentors

Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to manage coaching and mentoring sessions and structure their conversations to be effective coaches and mentors.
